DAFC announces Disability Champion
Friday, 28th Nov 2014"Football can enrich the lives of everyone so we want to ensure that anyone with a disability can experience this enrichment too
As a supporter-owned club DAFC is absolutely determined that attending East End Park will be an enjoyable experience for ALL fans in our community including those with disabilities of any kind.
Chairman, Bob Garmory stated "there is no doubt that football can enrich the lives of everyone so we want to ensure that anyone with a disability can experience this enrichment too – there should be no barriers to enjoying football. Pars United believe that DAFC has a moral duty to be inclusive".
Through the Supporters Council, a working group has already been looking at ways to improve the facilities of disabled supporters (home and away) and the Board is pleased to announce Ishbel Russell (pictured) as the DAFC Disability Champion.
Ishbel has worked for many years supporting disabled people in a variety of roles and settings and is an avid Pars fan and season ticket holder in the Norrie McCathie Stand.
Ishbel said 'I am very passionate about equality for disabled people and delighted to work with the club on their accessibility project. It is heartwarming to see that the Board of Directors are committed to making the club as accessible as possible for all disabled fans and visitors alike'.
Ishbel is also part of the Stadium Management Group and will liaise with all the other volunteer work streams to help bring about the Boards vision of DAFC as a market leader in facilities for disabled supporters.
If you have any ideas or think you can help Ishbel in any way, get in touch with her at DAFCdisability@DAFC.co.uk or 01383-724295 (club phone number).
