Following on from the successful “The Captain” whisky venture, Pars Supporters’ Trust member, Kenny McLachlan has organised yet another fund raising initiative.
“The Manager" whisky is the follow up to "The Captain". These two limited edition collectables were produced in association with The Glenturret Distillery in Crieff, and are to commemorate Dunfermline Athletics cup final triumphs of 1961 and 1968.
"The Manager" features a label designed by Pars fan Colin Maker and shows Legendary Pars manager Jock Stein. In designing the label, which includes The Glenturret corporate branding, several updated designs had to be submitted to the distillery before the final version was approved.
61 bottles of “The Manager” have been produced with the first 60 bottles put up for general sale via Pars fans website dafc.net. The stock quickly sold out within 3 days of posting the article, offering the opportunity for fans to purchase a bottle for £48.
Bottle number 61 was offered up for auction and was snapped up by lifelong Pars fan Davy Crowe, who also bought bottle number 1. Davy’s substantial bid could not be matched and he has become the proud owner of this much sought after bottle.
Davy has also bought bottle numbers 1 and 68 of "The Captain" whisky which were offered for sale in a similar manner. Again, his auction bid could not be matched meaning Davy is also the owner of number 68 of that edition, individually signed by 1968 cup winning captain Roy Barry.
The combined profit from these two bottles will eventually fetch a total of around £2500. The entire profit from the sale of "The Captain" went to the PST with the profit from "The Manager" being split between the PST and the newly formed Dunfermline Athletic Heritage Trust.
