Martin starts for Scotland
Sunday, 16th Nov 2014Dunfermline's young centre back, Lewis Martin started for the Scotland under 19s in their international friendly against Holland.
Lewis told the website how he felt he had done in Friday's game at the Falkirk Stadium.
"We drew one each against Holland. It was a hard game when they got the ball they passed it about but when we did we did the same. We had a lot of chances, a draw was probably a fair result although we could have edged it in the end."
Scotland (v Holland): Liam Kelly (Rangers); Ryan Sinnamon (Rangers), Scott McKenna (Aberdeen), Lewis Martin (Dunfermline Athletic), Calum Waters (Celtic); Liam Henderson (Celtic), Tom Walsh (Rangers), Scott Wright(Aberdenn), Oliver McBurnie (Bradford City), Eamonn Brophy (Hamilton Academically), Angus Beith (Heart of Midlothian).
Lewis played in the centre of a back four consisting of Ryan Sinnamon of Rangers, Scott McKenna from Aberdeen, who was the captain and Celtic's Calum Waters at left back. Lewis continued:-
"The Dutch team were technically brilliant on the ball, all they do is pass it and move all the time. We knew that we just needed to go tight against them and that is what we did. We coped with them."
Up against Lewis was Richairo Zivkovic a player he had encountered before when he was at Rangers.
"He played for Groningen back then but he is at Ajax now. He is a good player but I felt that I did well against him. He is fast, quick and strong too."
Lewis hopes that he will be selected again in the future and believes that his chances are best if he can continue to play with Dunfermline's first team.
Dunfermline fans at Ochilview Park on Saturday saw one of Lewis' Scotland team mates when Tom Walsh was a 78th minute sub for Stenhousemuir. The young midfielder is on loan there from Rangers.
