Fife Soccer 7’s celebrated their end of season in style on Saturday 25th October when 500 players and parents made their way to East End Park to watch The Pars play Greenock Morton. This followed their previous trip to East End, at last season’s play-off final second leg against Cowdenbeath.
DAFC Director, Ross McArthur said “Our club and The Pars Foundation have been working closely with Fife Soccer 7’s over the last few months, to build closer links in the community. Sammy the Tammy and the Pars Foundation are now regular visitors to Pitreavie on Saturday morning’s. We were again delighted to welcome players from most of the Soccer 7’s teams to East End Park. I would like to thank Kelly Armstrong, from The Pars Foundation and Andi Campbell from Fife Soccer 7’s who coordinated the day.”
Kelly Armstrong Pars Foundation Manager added “it as was fantastic to see all the young players at East End Park and we look forward to offering similar initiatives throughout the season. There was over 500 young players from the Soccer 7’s in the North East Stand, and the atmosphere was electric especially when the DAFC players threw signed balls into the crowd! Andi Campbell and his team do a fantastic job running Fife Soccer 7’s and it was good to be able to give something back to them as they all put a lot of their own time, energy and effort in to ensure that Fife Soccer 7’s is one of the best league’s in the country”.
As a special gesture, DAFC also offered 11 lucky Soccer 7’s players the chance to be DAFC mascots for the day, and these included players from, Valleyfield, Rosyth and Crossford. In addition, at half time Soccer 7 Fairplay awards were presented to Cairneyhill 05's, Bayside Bullets 04's and Crossford 03's. Well done to all concerned!
Andi Campbell, Chairman, of FSSS stated “on behalf of the Fife Soccer 7's I would like to thank DAFC and The Pars Foundation in recognising the link up with the Fife Soccer 7's and forging our partnership in the community. We ended another successful season down at Pitreavie on the 25th October, and were invited up to East End Park by DAFC, and with the help of Kelly Armstrong from the Pars Foundation the kids had a FANTASTIC day. The kids particularly liked the signed footballs being thrown into our section (thanks Mo Hutton)!! We are all looking forward to next season already and working with DAFC and The Pars Foundation again”.
