Walking Down the Halbeath Road
Friday, 24th Oct 2014Pars Fans support the dedication of Colin Johnston by walking down Halbeath Road
Since DAFC exited administration a year ago the actions of so many Pars fans has proven to be inspirational to all associated with ensuring that we rebuild our club as a model of how a fans owned club should be run.
The actions of the volunteers who dedicate themselves to raising funds, maintaining the stadium, improving access for all and supporting the club in their own way never ceases to amaze the Board. This work coupled with the dedication of our small group of permanent staff means we are on the way to achieving our goal of securing the future of our club.
Club Chairman, Bob Garmory commented:-
"Every now and then you talk to someone who shows such a commitment to the club that you are humbled by their dedication. This is how I feel every time I meet with Colin Johnston. His journey to see the Pars play at home involves a long train journey to and from Manchester, which in its self would be hard enough, but to do all of this whilst confined to a wheelchair is simply incredible.
"A few weeks back I spoke to Marvyn Stewart who is in regular contact with Colin, and asked if there was any way in which we could maybe try and get a couple of fans to welcome Colin off the train and accompany him to East End Park. From this sprung the idea that there should be a 'Walk down the Halbeath Road' with Colin, something he had always wanted to do.
"On behalf of the club I would like to thank all the Pars fans who joined the walk on Saturday I know Colin really appreciated your company and efforts”.
As everyone knows, it has never been easy following the Pars but being a member of the Pars family is pretty special, as can be seen in the photograph above, when everyone on the walk arrived at East End Park last Saturday.
