Smoking in Toilets at East End Park
Tuesday, 14th Oct 2014DAFC board make a plea to all supporters
The Board of DAFC would like to make the following urgent plea to all supporters.
It has been brought to our attention in recent weeks that some supporters continue to smoke in the toilets at East End Park.
It is a matter of law that you cannot smoke in a confined public place, such as a football stadium, with any breach being treated very seriously. This not only has implications for the person who commits the offence, but also our club itself in terms of our safety licence. As a consequence, the Board has had no option but to instruct our match day stewards, G4S, to eject from the stadium, in the first instance, any supporters who are found to be smoking in the toilets. We sincerely hope that no further preventative measures will need to be taken.
In addition, we would ask everyone to be aware that it adversely affects other supporters’ health and wellbeing. If it continues it will result in increased stewarding costs for our community owned club at the very time when we have worked hard to reduce them.
The issue of smoking appears to be more significant in the North West Stand, but also affects the Norrie Stand. The Board are not adverse to any supporters who wish to smoke at half time, forming a working group, to access suitable outside areas for a smoking area within the curtilage of the stadium.
However, the Board politely request that all supporters immediately refrain from smoking within the stadium at all times, and thank them in advance for their cooperation in this manner.
