BP Youth Cup winners re-united
Sunday, 12th Oct 2014In 1988 Dunfermline Athletic won the BP Youth Cup, this Saturday some of the team will be at East End Park
Six of the players who won the BP Youth Cup in 1987/88 will be re-united in the Kingdom Club hospitality before the League One fixture against Forfar Athletic.
Confirmed guests on Saturday from the 1988 Youth Cup Team:-
Craig Timney, b 18.12.70 Goalkeeper. In his first season with Sauchie Juniors Craig moved to the area from Middlesbrough and lived in carnock. He made several appearances for the reseves in the Youth Cup winning season.
Stuart McVicars, b 26.5.71 Defender. A local lad from Torryburn, Stuart, was an Under 16 cap the previous season, and played for Scotland Under 18s against Northern Ireland a few weeks before the final.
Andy Williamson, b 4.9.69 Defender. Tall, skilful defender who made the breakthrough into the first team in the Youth Cup winning season. A Scottish professional youth cap who was outstanding in the semi final against Clyde.
David Sinclair, b 6.10.60 Midfielder. From High Valleyfield. David was signed with Hutchison Vale. Tremendous power in the air and Pars top goalscorer with six in the cup competition.
Raymond Masterton, b 21.10.70 Full back. From Bannockburn and was signed with Gairdoch United. He played in every match of the BP Youth Cup campaign.
Raymond Sharp, b 16.11.69. Full back / defender Signing full time with the Pars matured Ray as a player. He had a very good season in 1987/88. One of the best players in the semi-final.
Winners in 1988 were:- Craig Timney; Martin Feenie, Ray Masterton, Stuart McVicars, Andy Williamson, Scott Ferguson, David Sinclair, Ray Sharp, Sean Strang, Ian Black, Paul Gribbon. Sub: Greig Donaldson.
Lee Bullen was in the squad but did not play in the final which was played at East End Park.
