Stirling effort from Stuart Urquhart
Saturday, 4th Oct 2014Defender sent from Coventry is happy to be at Dunfermline
Stuart Urquhart completed his first 90 minutes of first team football for Dunfermline on Saturday at Forthbank. As predicted as a replacement on Friday by this website, Stuart filled the dolt vacated by Lewis Martin who is on international duty with Scotland u19s. He told the media after the match against Stirling Albion that the goal was always going to come:-
"We started the game brightly and were doing alright. Once we went one up we dominated and they were hanging. We knew if we kept passing the ball around the box quickly and isolating players then we would create chances and thankfully we did so."
Stuart was up for corner kicks and took part in the many varied rehearsed setpiece routines! he continued:-
"It is something that we work on quite hard in training on the day before a game. I got a couple of opportunities but just missed them ever so slightly."
Pleased to get his debut start for the Pars Stuart was still critical of his contribution:-
"Personally I think I could have done a wee bit better and collectively maybe as a team we could have done a wee bit better but we will take three points and move on.
"I am loving it at Dunfermline, it is good to be part of a winning team and we are heading in the right direction. Picking up three points at Stirling on Saturday is what we needed to do.
"I decided to join Dunfermline because of their style of play, that is what attracted me. It is an ambitious young team."
Although just 19 Stuart has experience of Rangers and Coventry City and he compared to Dunfermline as a similarly professional club.
"It is just the same, the training is just fantastic. I am just happy to play, keep a clean sheet and we will see what happens next week. We are looking forward to the game on Friday."
