Ryan Thomson post Stenhousemuir

-- Listen to this Ryan Thomson interview
Ryan Thomson's goal after 54 frustrating minutes against Stenhousemuir on Saturday set the Pars up for a third league win in a row and significantly to the top of the table on goal difference. The midfielder who was played out of position in a striking role for all of last season ironically got off the mark for this season at one of the earliest opportunities.
"It is good to get the goal, it is my first of the season but to be honest it is just good to be getting games again. I didn't start in the games at the beginning of the season so it is great to be back in the team.
"I am a natural midfielder and find it easier to score from midfield. I just want to get back into midfield and scoring again is good. Hopefully I can kick on from here."
Ryan admitted that he possibly should have been on the scoresheet by half time:-
"There were a few chances I should have scored from and could have had more than one. At the end of the day I got the first goal and we went on to win. We got the result so I am happy enough although I maybe should have scored more."
The best first half opportunity was crashed off the crossbar by Michael Moffat and Ryan felt that the chances just didn't fall for his team:-
"We probably should have had the game out of sight by the time I scored. At least it is good to have so many chances. One of those days when we take them all somebody is going to be on a bit of a hiding. We just need to keep playing well and hopefully stay top of the league now that we are there."
When Ryan was substituted for Andy Stirling with twenty minutes of the match remaining, he received a well earned round of applause but naturally the player is always disappointed to have his game truncated:-
"I wanted to stay on as long as I could but Andy Stirling is just coming back and he needs game time. As long as I am in the team and doing well for the team, I am happy.
"It is a good feeling to be top of the league, especially after our slow start to the season. It is where we belong."
