A fitting Tribute to our former Chairman
Wednesday, 13th Aug 2014The club was delighted to welcome Mrs Flora Rennie to Saturday’s game against Brechin City.
Flora is the widow of former Chairman, Mel Rennie and was joined at Saturday’s game by friends Sandy & Ann Morris and another former Chairman, Roy Woodrow. Flora attends as many games as she can, and usually attends the Rennie Suite, which is named after her late husband.
The club made a special presentation of a slate plaque, engraved with a picture of Mel, to Flora in the Rennie Suite prior to the match.
We would like the Rennie Suite to be a more fitting tribute to celebrate Mel’s many years of dedicated service to DAFC. Mel was a director between 1971 and 2002, and Chairman between 1986 and 1991. Therefore, the Suite is in the process of being redecorated with a number of fantastic photos from Mel’s time, with further artwork being prepared.
Saturday was an opportunity for our club to surprise Flora with the work already undertaken and make the special presentation. The plaque was kindly provided by Slateshack, the company owned by DAFC’s most recently appointed director, Billy Braisby.
Billy’s late father, Bill served on the board of DAFC alongside Mel Rennie for many years. Billy is seen presenting the special plaque to Flora, joined by present Chairman, Bob Garmory, Jim Leishman and Sandy Morris.
