Frustration of Forbes
Sunday, 10th Aug 2014Ross Forbes admitted that the first league match of the campaign against Brechin City had been a frustrating afternoon.
Ross commented:-
"We had nearly all the possession in that game but we just couldn't break them own. That was the only thing missing."
It is now four seasons ago since Dunfermline won their first home league match of the season and the midfielder who joined Dunfermline from Partick Thistle in January felt that Ray McKinnon had set his side up in such a way to make things as tough as possible for the Fifes:-
"That is what they came here to do. You saw them celebrating their point at the end that shows you the difference in the mentalities in the game."
Ross was foiled in his attempts to add to his three goal tally for the Pars and 31 year old keeper Graeme Smith made some significant saves in between some annoying time wasting tactics:-
"Their keeper did well and we had chances but just couldn't take them. It was just one of those days but that is what we are going to be up against all season, teams will come here and sit in. We will just have to find ways to break them down.
"Teams will give us a bit of respect but that just makes it difficult and everybody knows that. It is up to us and we will have to do our best.
"I came close with a couple of free kicks but not close enough. They are not good unless they go in."
Means of breaking down defences such as mounted by Brechin is something the twenty five year old midfielder says will just have to be worked on in training.
