Manager comments on Cup Draw
Friday, 8th Aug 2014Dunfermline Athletic will play St Mirren in the Scottish League Cup second round
Jim Jefferies is looking forward to taking his young side to Paisley to face St Mirren for the first time since April 2012. He commented:-
"I know we got Annan from the lower league but we got drawn against Raith in the Petrofac followed by Falkirk from a higher league as the prize for getting through. That is great for the club and the supporters and another test for us and then we get an even bigger test for us by getting through because we have to face Premier League opponents St Mirren.
"The pressure is all on them at home. I know Tommy Craig really well, he will be very respectful and get plenty comments about how well we have been playing I'm sure. We have just got to keep up that form until we play them.
"It's a great test, with all due respect to them, they are a big club in the Premier League but they are not a massively supported club so things could have been better if you look at it from a financial point of view but w are capable of causing a shock there. It will be tough because they are a good team with a lot of good players. They are playing at a higher level than a lot of our boys but so too had Raith Rovers."
Before the League Cup tie Dunfermline will face Falkirk in the Petrofac Training Cup but the manager will keep his players focused on the league.
