Famously bought his own way out of his contract at Airdrie United to join Dunfermline. The 23-year-old winger signed a two-year deal in June 2009 time for the start of pre-season training.
Steven was perhaps one of the most gifted players in Jim McIntyre's squad, and his pace and movement caused problems for lots of defences in the First Division. Steven was with Rangers from the age of nine until he left to join Airdrie as a 17 year old. At Murray Park he was coached by Bobby Russell and played in the same team as Ross McCormack and Mark Twaddle.
He made his Airdrie debut on 7th May 2005 when he was still just 18. He went on to make 135 appearances and score four goals for the Diamonds.
Total: 40 appearances for Dunfermline + 44 as sub, 11 goals
