Dunfermline Athletic

Scott Thomson

Signed: 01/07/98 Left:  May 2009 Scott was brought to East End Park by Bert Paton but despite playing well in previous seasons, it was under Jimmy Calderwood that his full potential developed. `Nipper` as he`s known at the club is a bit of a utility man but no-one can decide on his ideal position. Scott said that he preferred to play behind the front two but Jimmy Calderwood seemed to prefer him as a defender. Whatever position he plays, he always puts in a good shift.

Nipper is also a good guy to have in the dressing room because he`s the practical joker at the club. Although his team mates say that he`s the only one that laughs at his jokes! Before joining the Pars, Scott had a short spell in England with Shrewsbury, before moving north to join Brechin City and then his hometown club Aberdeen.

He then moved to the wee team in 1996. He is now an automatic first-team player and has been skipper since season 2002-2003 after being vice-captain the previous season.

Dunfermline`s longest-serving player, he can play in a variety of positions including full back, central defence, midfield or forward on either side of the park. Has had more than his fair share of injury problems and injury kept him out for the entire 2006-07 season. Scott is a class player with an ability to cause problems from set pieces.
