Simon Wiles
Date of birth: 22/04/85
Simon Wiles joined Dunfermline in August 2008 on a one year deal. Simon started at Blackpool in the under 14s Centre of Excellence and was rewarded with a YT contract for three years. Following that he signed a four year pro contract. It was former Scotland captain, Colin Hendrie who gave Simon his first chance at Blackpool.
When Simon Grayson became player-manager, the right winger went on loan to Macclesfield Town then under Paul Ince. He returned to Macclesfield for six months the following season 2007-08 under Ian Brightwell the ex Man City player.
Simon was out of contract at Blackpool at the end of last season but he rejected a new one because he just wasn't figuring or playing as much as he wanted to, the opportunity came about to come to Dunfermline. When he arrived at East End Park Simon described his preference:-
"My preferred position is right wing; out and out winger. I love getting at the full backs and getting balls into the box. That's what I want to give and I am looking forward to the rest of the season."
Plagued with injury Simon was out for the season by November. Had a short term contract until August 2009 to prove his fitness.
