"We were playing a stronger side with all due respect to Annan; Raith have players who have played a lot more games at a higher level so it was a bit of a test tonight. I thought that we came through it with flying colours and were excellent from start to finish.
"The tempo, the pace and the passing of our game was a joy to watch. I said to them at half time that it was as good a performance as I have seen since I have been at Dunfermline. It is now about keeping the tempo up because it must take effect later on.
Raith were great and gallant and tried to stick with us but I thought the pace of Faissal and Moffat upfront, the clever midfield with great movement amongst them, great passing and I didn't have a failure tonight.
"Even young Drummond coming in was outstanding as well. We knew that it was a derby against the holders of the cup, they were always going to give everything they had got. Raith did gIve everything tonight but it was nice hearing a couple of their players coming off the pitch saying 'you deserved it'.
"They knew that they had a tough game tonight. Both teams had chances but we had chances and could have been a couple up at half time. There chances came from mistakes that we made whereas ours were really created.
It looked like it was going to take something special or a drastic mistake although that never looked on the cards. It was a wonder goal; a fantastic finish and fit to win any game.
"We have gone up against a team in a league that we had hoped to be in this year but showed when we do, if we can get up there with another year's experience behind them we have a good team.
"This is a team that will give a lot a hard game and now to face another team from the championship in Falkirk. Its another big game to look forward to and helps the club financially.
"It was a terrific response. I kind of thought that we had used up all our goals on Saturday with five but it took something special. We defended well as well but some of the play was a joy to watch at times."
The manager's praise for his team was against a background of opposing players who had experience of playing in a higher division.
"Jason Thomson has played in the Premier League, Perry has played for Rangers, McKeown has played for Kilmarnock in the Premier League, Fox, Stewart, Scott who played for Hibs and Ross County and Nade can be a handful although tonight we marshalled him well. It shows you with the players we have, with youngsters coming through and the players we have picked up from lower divisions, they have done the club proud tonight.
"The two performances that we have put on so far have been of excellent quality and now if we can find the consistency of that performance on a regular basis, then we know we will be hard to go with in the league.
"There are a lot of tough venues to go to and sometimes we will not always get to play the way we like to. Here its a nice big pitch with a good surface that suits us. We will make it tough for every team that comes here."
Raith manager Grant Murray said that one goal can be decisive and what a goal it was.
