Drum respects Annan
Friday, 1st Aug 2014Ross Drummond is the Dunfermline player with the most recent experience of Saturday's opponents.
When the 20 year old was out on loan for the last eleven games of the season with Berwick Rangers he played against Annan Athletic:-
"They play on astro down there so they like to pass the ball about and their striker Kenny Mackay was in the League Two team of the year. They are a good team and beat us quite comfortably. They are quite big at the back."
For Annan this will be their first visit to East End Park and Ross warned that might have a positive effect on the opposition:-
"It is a nice stadium and they will want to play their best on the bigger stage and for their supporters who will have travelled a long way. If I was playing at a bigger stadium I would lift my game and the crowd helps."
Ross was keen to make an impression last Saturday since was set to make only his second ever start for Dunfermline and with it being the first competitive match of the season there was a really good opportunity for him to make a claim to a regular starting place. The late postponement of the match put pay to that:-
"It was disappointing because I wanted to make an impact. With Alex Whittle being suspended for Tuesday I would hope to play. My pals were all at the game on Saturday and it would have been really good to start especially since they are a Rovers fans."
The left back slot is Ross' goal for this season and is grateful for Berwick Rangers role in making that a possibility.
"I played every minute when I was there and gained good experience of first team football. I enjoyed every minute as well and learned so much."
