Difference surfaces
Thursday, 5th Dec 2013Allan Smith:- "I think we play better on grass and just can't wait to get playing.
Saturday's opponents Forfar Athletic have proven to be tough opponents for Dunfermline but most Pars fans will want to see a repeat of the play off win at home to Dick Campbell's team in May. Allan Smith is particularly looking forward to playing Forfar on the green green grass of home:-
"It is a different game on astro, I do not know why but we have got them at home and last time we played them at home we won 6-1. If I start and the team play the way they should then will get the three points.
"It was good to score in the play off game. That was the first time I had scored for the first team and we came back from three goals behind while they had three men sent off. If we win 6-1 on Saturday and I get on the scoresheet that would be good."
That's the kind of change of luck that Allan is seeking after only getting one solitary half chance against Ayr last Saturday and not being on target since scoring against Airdrieonians on 16th November:-
"I look forward to each game as it comes, hopefully I will start and I just want to do my best for the team and keep getting points on the board. They beat us 4-0 at Forfar but I am confident because if you look at the stats they wouldn't suggest that it was 4-0. It is over and done with now.
"The home crowd will make us more relaxed, I think we play better on grass and just can't wait to get playing. We have got out of the bad habit of losing the first goal. We will play to our best and hopefully that will be good enough to take three points."
The 19 year old striker has made more appearances off the bench this season than games he has started but he is not concerned about that, happy to be involved in whatever way that may be.
"The play offs and promotion are the goals and personally I want to move up a league. It could be a good league next season if we can get up. Time will tell."
