Ayr striker confident
Tuesday, 3rd Dec 2013"Anyone can take this cup game.
Michael Donald kept Ayr United in the Scottish Cup with his 58th minute goal and now he is confident that his side can finish off the job in Wednesday night's replay:-
"There is no reason why not. Dunfermline are in the same league as us and that's a league where on their day, anyone can beat anyone. Anyone can take this cup game. Rangers are coming up on Saturday but that is not on anyone's mind right now. We will deal with the cup game first."
The 24 year old admitted that the last 5-1 defeat in Dunfermline would be haunting them and they would not want that to happen again.
"Both teams will want to win it and will go for it."
Donald's confidence is built on what he felt was a much better showing against Jim Jefferies team:-
"We put in a better display than what we did against Dunfermline last time. We are happy with that and on Saturday the first half was probably the best that we have played all season. We got the ball on the ground, cut them open a few times and created a few chances.
"We should have scored in the first half but the goalkeeper made a good few saves to be honest. When the ball was coming off him it just didn't fall for our strikers. We all had a few chances, it was just good to get the goal early in the second half. We said at half time that if we got the goal early that we could push on and win it. Both teams had chances after that; it was a true old fashioned cup game."
The 24 year old described his goal that came from a Kevin Kyle knock down.
"He wins nearly every ball in the air so we were due to get something, luckily I put it in the back of the net."
