A special visitor at the Brechin City match was Vetle Andersen returning 26 years after he left to join his homeland team Viking Stavanger. He had joined from German club Blau-Wei? 90 Berlin - appropriately Black and White in German and went on after his short time at Dunfermline to play for Lingby in Copenhagen, West Bromwich Albion, Watford and Halmstad before returning to Scottish football to play for Raith Rovers and Inverness Caley Thistle.
Vetle played 18 matches for the Pars between November 1987 and April 1988. He claimed that he enjoyed his time with Dunfermline when Jim Leishman was manager and Iain Munro was the coach.
The 49 year old former defender promised regular financial support from himself and several others in Norway towards Dunfermline Athletic's funds.
