Not my goal
Monday, 25th Nov 2013Thommo amused by credits for goal on Saturday
Ryan Thomson laughed off suggestions that he was the scorer of the Pars second goal on Saturday against Brechin City:-
"I have absolutely no chance of claiming the goal; I was at least a few yards away from it. When I heard my name being called I had a wee chuckle. It is not my goal. Watch the highlights back and you will see that I was a good few yards away, it's an own goal."
Dunfermline failed to kill off their opponents with a third goal until just three minutes from full time and had even let ten man Brechin have renewed hope by allowing them an 80th minute goal from Paul McLean.
"I thought that we played some really good stuff in the first half" said Ryan, "I think we deserved to go in 2-0 up. Then when they went down to ten men in the second half, that's when I expect us to do our passing football and really take control of the game even more than we had.
"I don't know what it was, we just seemed to sit off a wee bit and obviously when they got the goal it started to give them a bit of hope. It is just one of those things that we need to start dealing with. We are still glad to take the three points, that's the main thing now we need to keep this run going."
There was an uncomfortable moment in the Pars defence just after Brechin had scored when an equaliser could worryingly have been scored:-
"When it gets to 2-1 that's the time when it gets squeaky but at the end of the day we got the three points with a 3-1 win so we cannot complain too much about that."
