Sunday, 17th Nov 2013After win on AstroTurf Craig Dargo says:- "To score three goals away from home we would take that any day of the week
Given the trouble they have experienced getting results on AstroTurf in the past, goalscorer Craig Dargo thought that the result at Airdrie on Saturday was a great one for Dunfermline:-
"We were excellent from start to finish. Obviously they were down to ten men but even against eleven men we were knocking the ball about really good. It was an accomplished performance."
The 35 year old striker agreed that the Pars could have had more goals from the game: -
"The good thing was that we were creating a lot of chances and to score three goals away from home we would take that any day of the week. We came away saying that we could have scored more goals but I think we have to be happy with that."
Happiness on a personal front came at the very end when Craig stuck away his 93rd minute chance to seal the 3-0 win.
"The most important thing is the three points but after coming on I managed to chip in with a goal as well. I was delighted with that, a good day for me and for everyone overall."
As a striker he keeps a close watch over the Pars strikeforce, he gave his assessment:-
"Allan Smith works incredibly hard, and Jordan was unlucky not to come away with a goal. The goalie saved his penalty but Jordan will score the next time I am sure, he is very good at penalties, that will not hurt his confidence one wee bit. Wallace playing out on the left was a threat all day."
Craig came off the bench with quarter of an hour remaining to replace Jordan Moore but it was the first substitution that Jim Jefferies was forced into making that had everybody talking. Just five minutes into the second half Ryan Scully sustained a blow to his leg and 20 year old Ryan Goodfellow came on to make his first appearance at senior level.
"Ryan came in and it was good for him to keep a clean sheet. He was a bit nervous especially when the first shot came in to him. Once he took that catch, he came out for one and punched one after that as well.
"He was positive and his kicking was good. It is good for him to come into this game and keep a clean sheet. We were on the front foot but he has done what he has had to do. Let's just hope Ryan Scully is okay. That is no disrespect to young Ryan because Scully has been fantastic for us. If Scully is not available then Ryan can come in and step up to that. That is the good point for the manager as well."
Craig described the game as the team's best away performance of the season and the best performance on AstroTurf.
"We do knock the ball about, we can't complain about it because we do pass the ball well and astro can suit us. It was a good all round performance. Let's hope we can do it all again next week at home."
