Youth teams at City Academy

"Dunfermline Athletic are always welcome at Manchester City,

Dunfermline Athletic Youth teams once again enjoyed a very enjoyable and educational trip to Manchester City's Academy at the weekend.

The U11, U12 and U13 squads were joined by coaches Kevin Bathgate, Graeme Colmer, Dougie Coulston, Conor Little and youth sports scientist Ross Mackay. Stephen Wright who also accompanied the teams said:-

"We have been lucky enough to be invited down by Man City twice now and this trip was absolutely fantastic for the kids. We played against Man City development teams in the morning and then went to watch the first team game at the Etihad Stadium against Norwich, in which the kids were treated to a master-class from David Silva, Sergio Aguero and Samir Nasri.

"The staff at the Academy looked after us very well and Trevor Todd - Head of Junior recruitment, gave our parents and kids separate tours of the Academy at Platt Lane, which included a visual presentation of the new training facility which will be situated across from the Etihad Stadium and due to be opened in summer 2014-15."

Stephen is hoping this could become an annual trip for his young players and to keep the relationship going between the two clubs.

"It was our pleasure to host Dunfermline Athletic at our Academy complex once again. Each time we play them the games are extremely competitive and played in a fantastic manner. Their players and parents are respectful with positive attitudes and the coaching staff are friendly and approachable.

"Dunfermline Athletic are always welcome at Manchester City, it will be our pleasure to host them again at our brand new CFA building when we move next year".
