Sir Alex Ferguson helped to make the fourth round draw of the William Hill Scottish Cup on Tuesday, 5th November 2013 in Aberdeen. Sir Alex, a four-time winner of the trophy as manager of Aberdeen, was joined by the Scottish FA's vice-president, Alan McRae, and Neil Cooper, Group Finance Director at William Hill. The outcome was an away tie for the Pars against Ayr United.
The last time the sides met in the Scottish Cup was in January 2002 when Ayr United won 3-0 and Gus McPherson scored a spectacular own goal. Ayr have also triumphed over the Pars in the 1992-93 Scottish Cup, their only other success being a 2-0 home win in season 1933-34. Dunfermline have won through three times in the six previous pairings. Ayr currently sit second in League One equal on points with the Pars.
