Preview Rangers
Sunday, 3rd Nov 2013First league meeting outside the top flight. The last Pars league victory at Ibrox was in April 1972, over 40 years ago.
This Wednesday night Dunfermline are back at Ibrox on league business for the first time since December 2011. This is the first league match between the clubs outside the top flight but the Pars success rate in the 101 league meetings so far in Glasgow have brought just nine wins and fifteen draws. The Fifers failed to record an away win over Rangers in the Premier League; twenty three of the twenty six Premier League visits to Ibrox ended in defeat.

The last Pars league victory at Ibrox was in April 1972, over 40 years ago. Jim Leishman scored the winning goal that day (as he never forgets to tell us), with the other goals coming from Ken Mackie, Kenny Thomson, plus an own goal from Sandy Jardine.

Dunfermline`s last league win over Rangers was in December 2003 when a Stevie Crawford goal and Vanoli own goal handed the Pars a rare 2-0 win. However the 14 matches since then have seen the Gers win twelve and draw two. When these teams last met, at East End Park on 11th February 2012 it was a comfortable 4-1 win for McCoists` men.

Only two places between the teams in League One but Rangers consistency makes them 7-1 on at the bookies. Rangers have won 14 of their fifteen matches this season, only slipping up to Dick Campbell`s Forfar Athletic in the Scottish Communities League Cup.

Rangers home form is impressive, six games, six wins, four shut outs. Only Arbroath and Brechin City have managed to score at Ibrox this season. Peterhead were the last team to defeat Rangers at Ibrox with a 2-1 win on 20th April this year. Last season in the Third Division visitors to collect points were Elgin City, Montrose and Stirling Albion, while Annan Athletic left with all three. Only goes to show it is possible.
On the road the Pars have lost at Forfar and Falkirk this season and dropped points at Brechin as well. After touring the extremities of Scottish football in the last two weeks it will be easy to be fresh after a trip to Govan.
