Moore double trouble
Sunday, 3rd Nov 2013Two goals in two minutes for Jordan Moore but fellow striker denied chance of cup hattrick
Jordan Moore made an impressive impact in the Scottish Cup tie on Saturday scoring two goals within ten minutes of coming on in 55th minute for Ryan Thomson.
"It was good to get on and score two goals. We did well to get into the hat for the next round" he added.
The 19 year old's first goal in 63 minutes came from the penalty spot after he had been taken down by Jamie Duff. He described the incident:-
"I knocked it by him but he was going to hit me and there was a lot of contact so I had to go down. I just wanted to hit the penalty then and I scored it."
The decision to grasp the opportunity to take the penalty ahead of the regular penalty kick taker Ryan Wallace at a time when he was on a hatrick having scored the first two Dunfermline goals, was somewhat controversial. Jordan explained:-
"Wallace was on his hatrick but I just wanted to hit the penalty. I had to score it and that is what I did so there are no complaints."
Jordan's second goal came just a minute later and he described how he took advantage of an Elgin's defenders mistake:-
"The ball just went up about 100 feet in the sky and the keeper came out as it came down, I just lobbed it by him on the volley and the fans went crazy which made it all the better.
"Then what a goal Whittle scored into the top corner. They got two late goals which made it a little dodgy at the end. We hung on."
Jordan had played pre-season games before in the Highlands but this was his first visit to Elgin. Likewise for many Dunfermline Athletic supporters this had been their first visit to Borough Briggs as well. The goalscorer praised the travelling support for their commitment and encouragement.
"They were brilliant after I have seen them travel to Stranraer last week and then it is scary to see how much they have had to travel for todays game."
Injury had kept Jordan out of the league match at Stranraer and after this success as a substitute the on-loan Dundee United striker hopes he has done enough to earn a starting place for Wednesday night's league game. He added:-
"It is the big one against Rangers at Ibrox and we are all looking forward to it. It is difficult to get something there but you never know".
