Morris calls for razor sharpness
Saturday, 26th Oct 2013"There are points that we need to work on but we are looking not to make the same mistakes again."
Callum Morris and team mate Allan Smith have taken a flyer ahead of other Pars players taking part in the annual Movember facial hair challenge for the whole of next month. Captain Josh Falkingham is organising a fund raising event for Kinross based children's charity, CHAS.
The centre half has started his growth early and has vowed to keep it growing until January. That possibly means Callum will probably sport a wide handle bar tash for Christmas all in the cause of charity but the 23 year old central defender certainly wasn't in charitable mode when he reflected om last Saturday's defeat at home to East Fife:-
"We were a bit shell shocked after the game after controlling it for so long but losing two late goal. We have been over the goals and are obviously disappointed but we know what we to did wrong. There are points that we need to work on but we are looking not to make the same mistakes again."
Callum is keen that his side capitalises when they are on top and lose that naive tag:-
"We need to know how to sit on a 1-0 win and grind out a result. We would take them every week if we could. It would be good to get more clean sheets. There will be points in the game where we have to soak up pressure and stay strong. We will be trying to do that on Saturday if that happens because you cannot stay on top for ninety minutes."
One of the few Pars players to have played at Stair Park, Callum played a game there for Morpeth Town just a month before he came north to join Dunfermline. He recalled that it is a bit of a trek:-
"It was just a one off pre season game but we got beat so I hope we can do better this time."
Callum claimed that the successful take over by Pars United has brought a welcome end to the off the field problems. Throughout the players have been very professional.
"It has been a bit of a roller coaster, we weren't expecting it. We started last season so well and all that happened but that is all in the past now. We have to focus on the future and take the club back to where it should be rather than being in the third tier of Scottish football."
