Dargo laments poor start
Wednesday, 21st Aug 2013"A lot of teams would just have died but the boys stepped up another gear and tried to get back in the game.
Craig Dargo believes that Dunfermline's problems on Tuesday night against Raith stemmed from an extremely bad start that saw the Pars softly concede an early corner from which the visitors scored, all within two minutes of the kick off:-
"We switched off straight away and gave them a 1-0 lead. Raith are a good experienced side who are hard to break down so to give them something like that straight away is a gift."
This followed on the heels of going behind to Arbroath in the previous match after only seven minutes, Craig was not sure if this was a problem with concentration early in matches:-
"If you look at the way they defended after that, I thought they were excellent. It is probably a moment of relapse, switching off concentration. They need to learn that it needs to be there for ninety minutes. As soon as the whistle blows until full time, they need to be switched on. You can't give teams like Raith a start like that. They have the experience to hold on."

On the positive side the 35 year old striker thought that Dunfermline played well:-
"Our performance was good; we passed the ball well and created a few chances. We maybe need to be more clinical in front of goal but these things will come. If you look at the amount of possession we had, we tried to knock the ball about and tried to do the right things. Even at 2-0 we were pushing forward.

"A lot of teams would just have died but the boys stepped up another gear and tried to get back in the game. A lot of credit has to go to them for that, they never gave up and in the end we were pushing forward. We now have to focus on Saturday and the League Cup next week."
