Ryan cannot save the day

Ryan Scully was disappointed that his first competitive match at East End Park ended in defeat and claimed that the poor start caused them to concede an early goal:-
"That started us going again, playing some really good stuff. We made a lot of good chances but in that final third we couldn't get it away. I don't know what the penalty decision was all about. I do not know what the referee has given that for.
"I asked the linesman but he said that he did not know either, so I do not know where he got that from. One of the boys said that it was for pulling his shirt but I have no idea."
The penalty decision was coupled with a yellow card for Chris Kane, a caution that was to be costly after the former Hearts youth picked up a second one just seven minutes into the second half:-
"It got tough with Chris getting sent off and it was against us. But will still played the ball around and made a few chances but couldn't put the ball in the net. They had the incentive to hold back and see off the three points."
The keeper said that at half time his Manager had asked his players to continue to get the ball down and play it about. He continued:-
"We knew that we were vulnerable to the counterattack as we chased the game. I am there to stop chances like that, it is just part of the job.
"It is good that we have a game straight awaywhere we can bounce back and hopefully get round to the next round of the cup."
