Ryan Ferguson up against Arbroath again

RYAN FERGUSON

Dunfermline's on loan midfielder from Dundee United, Ryan Ferguson was farmed out to Second Division Brechin City for a dozen games at the end of last season. He faced this Saturday's opponents Arbroath in one of those games:-

"We played against them at home, it was a good game, quite tight and Arbroath were quite a physical team but they can play football as well. We won 2-0 and hopefully the game this Saturday will be good. It's our first home league game and we are looking forward to it.

"They might have changed since last season. They have now got Steven Milne from Dundee and their manager plays as well so they have experienced players. It will be a tough game and Paul Sheerin sets everything up for the game."

The 19 year old feels that his experiences last season sets him up nicely to help the Pars in League One:-

"The games are quite tight and some of them were quite physical. I got used to that last season and I enjoyed it. I am enjoying it a lot this year; the games are really good and to come down to get this experience will help me."

Ryan admits that he is happy with the role he has taken up in the opening three games of the season:-

"It is restricting playing out wide but when you are playing in the middle it is virtually a free role. You can be on the ball all you want and I am really enjoying having that freedom to go and try and get on the ball."

He feels that his move to Dunfermline is nothing other than positive:-

"It is a great side that we have here and I am looking forward to the season. Hopefully we can maybe get the ball down a bit more this week and try and pass it at home. The fans at the away games have been brilliant. They have packed out every stand and I am looking forward to seeing what it is like at home. It is so loud away that I cannot imagine how loud it will be."

Saturday's game will see a parade of former Pars players at half time.  Turning out will be Jim Bowie, Willie Callaghan, Cammy Fraser, Allan Hunter, Harry Melrose, John Sweeney, Stevie Morrison, Bert Paton, Pat Wilson, Jim Herriot, Dan McLinden, Colin O'Brien, Kenny Thomson and Jim Scott.  Inverkeithing Pipe Band will add to the half time entertainment and the Semi Final of the Young Pars penalty kick competition will be held. Face painting will take place ahead of the game in the McCathie Stand.

Admission for children under 12 is only £1.
