Ryan Wallace Post East Fife

Three points wins you leagues and at the end of the season those three points could be massive

RYAN WALLACE v EAST FIFE

Ryan Wallace was spot on for the second week running to score the early goal that ensured Dunfermline took three points from their first league game of the season. Happy with that Ryan spoke of the game:-

"It was a great three points although it wasn't pretty. The gaffer is not happy with the performance to be honest and quite rightly. I don't think we passed the ball as well as we show every day in training. We move the ball for fun in training and it just didn't happen against East Fife. Obviously the three points are a big plus and we will look on to next week."

Pat Clarke takes down Ryan Wallace for penalty

Ryan felt that East Fife made it a typical local derby:-

"East Fife were happy to come and press us and get in our faces but that's what teams are going to do. We can do that to teams as well, that's football. You need to be comfortable on the ball and take hits sometimes here and there. That is what we work on in training and we move the ball so it is more about us rather than what East Fife did."

The hosts found themselves a goal down within two minutes. Pat Clarke's challenge on Ryan as he lined up a finish meant  referee Iain Brines was pointing to the spot with just 69 seconds gone. Ryan was happy to grab the opportunity to net from the spot kick:-

"It is nice to get on the scoresheet again but after that we never moved the ball as well as we should have. We can only learn from it, it is a good three points - the first three points of the season and we can move on from there."

Ryan Wallace sticks away second minute penalty

Jim Jefferies was critical of his side for not killing East Fife off and Ryan knew that he was guilty of missing a very good chance in the second half:-

"I had one and the gaffer is not happy with me. As a striker I should be scoring from those sort of opportunities. I will need to work on that in training next week and hopefully I will get another chance next week that I can stick away. Three points wins you leagues and at the end of the season those three points could be massive. It could mean play offs or winning the league so we will take any three points that will come our way."

For the second week running Ryan ducked the opportunity to comment on the referee who had annoyed both benches for periods of the game:-

"It is the referee's call and it was a Fife derby, a big game so there were a few rash tackles flying in. These things happen, it's a split second thing. If you miss it by a second then you could be getting done.

Ryan Wallace v East Fife

How did Ryan feel to play at Bayview as a Dunfermline player?

"I got a bit of a hostile reception and obviously when I scored but at the end of day it is my job to score goals - that is what I am paid for. If I am getting a chance to score a goal then I am going to stick it in the net. I can be friends with East Fife fans afterwards if they want to be, if not then that's fine. I loved the club when I was here, it was a fantastic club but I am a Dunfermline player now. I am paid to score goals and that is what I am here to do."
