This has been a momentous week for our club. The passing of the CVA means that we are now moving towards taking complete control of DAFC.
However it must be recognized that BDO are still in charge for the next few weeks although Pars United will be getting more and more involved in the day to day running of the club. During this transition period we will be learning more about the many issues we will have to resolve to ensure the long term future of DAFC. I have said repeatedly that this race we are in is not a sprint but a marathon and unfortunately as we look over our shoulders we can still see the start line with the finish line not yet in sight. So it is important that we continue to work together to achieve our common goal which is the successful rehabilitation of our club, in the process returning it to its rightful place in the top tier of Scottish Football. I know that you all want and deserve to know what is going on and what is going to happen but at the moment we are constrained by a number of factors which prevent us giving you the full picture. It is our hope that by the end of September we will have the opportunity to hold another information event at the Alhambra / Carnegie Hall. In the meantime we will have our first home league game of the season against Arbroath at East End Park on Saturday 17th August. Let us do all we can to make that a real celebration of the new start for our great club. |
// | When we look back to 10 months ago, it is hard to think that so much could have happened to our club in such a short space of time.
When we realised that things were not looking like improving towards the end of 2012, the fans showed their true colours by working hard to help the previous owners with bucket collections and other fund raising, but things did not work out for them. Since then our fans have been magnificent with their support throughout the Administration period, and have continued this financial support into the Buy the Pars campaign. As you know we had set a target to raise a minimum of £100,000 (many said we could not achieve this) and not only did we raise this, but we are well in excess of this amount and it is heartening to see that this is still increasing daily. The more we as fans raise, the higher the representation we will have in Dunfermline Athletic Football Club. We are grateful to all the members of the Pars United team who have raised the significant contribution from the Patrons and for all their hard work at putting plans together which allowed us to go to the Administrator with a bid which was thankfully successful. A new season is about to start, a new era where the fans will have a greater say in what is happening at the club. Let us not kid ourselves, it will not be easy - there is a lot of hard work to be done, but we have proven that we are a great bunch of fans that fought hard to get us to this stage. We need to keep attending games, supporting our young team, volunteering and fund raising, thereby ensuring that there is a future for our proud club. Thank you one and all and COYP!
