Pars Loan Star
Monday, 22nd Jul 2013Ryan Ferguson looks forward to making loan deal work for him
Ryan Ferguson's six month long loan deal from Dundee United was wrapped up in midweek and he celebrated that by scoring on his starting debut on Saturday against Falkirk.
"I thought we were pressing well in the final third and the ball seemed to fall in between me and the defender. I got there first and managed to hit it well. It went in so I am delighted.
"I was really happy to come on loan to such a big club. I enjoyed my first game here and I am looking forward to the next six months. It is all about getting experience just now and there is nowhere better for me to get experience that at Dunfermline."
Other Dundee United strikers have gained tremendously from periods out on loan. David Goodwillie went out to Raith Rovers where he played 16 games in season 2007-08 , Johny Russell was out on loan at Forfar Athletic in 2008-09 and then at Raith the following season and Scott Allan was also loaned to Forfar before he was transferred from United to West Bromwich Albion.
"Everybody needs that experience, and I hopefully can follow in behind them. I was out on loan to Brechin for two months towards the end of last season. I played in the play offs but that wasn't as long as it we will be here. I thoroughly enjoyed that as well so hopefully that will be the same.
"I need first team experience. The squad here is young but they talk to me - I know the squad is young but they still help me along the way."
