Thursday, 18th Jul 2013Pars fans launch new Supporters Club based at the Elizabethan
DESPITE Dunfermline's on-field fortunes being at their lowest ebb for some time, a group of Pars fans are determined to put a buzz back in amongst the support.
While the club was facing relegation towards the end of last season, defiant fans Michael Mlotkiewicz and Craig Nellies issued a rallying call around their mates to get behind the club when it needed them most.
And their call was answered as the boys managed to raise enough interest in setting up a supporters' club bus which they say will be running to all away games next year from their local, the Elizabethan pub.
Michael said: "We looked at things back in the 80s and 90s when the club had so many supporters clubs and buses running to games and we wanted to bring that feeling back.
"There is a group of us who go to most home and away games so the idea to start a bus for games was a simple one.
"We've had over 100 names so far who are interested in being part of it all so it's looking fantastic, we have guys who went on the Brucefield and Pitblauchie bus so using their knowledge has been great too."
After raising the idea amongst their fellow fans, Craig and Michael were encouraged to run buses to the relegation play-off games against Forfar and Alloa.
Both buses were sold out.
Craig said: "We're really looking forward to getting it off and running for next season. We also have a Race Night planned on Friday 26th July at the Elizabethan in order for us to raise some funds, sponsor a player etc, which will hopefully help raise some much needed funds for the football club".
