Manager on Thursday
Thursday, 11th Jul 201311/07/13: JJ - "They look now as though they are buzzing and maybe we will need to tone it down given the heat in the last five or six days.
Jim Jefferies is pleased with the way pre season training has gone. Talking exclusively to the website he said:-
"When you have a young squad who are as enthusiastic and as hard working as they are, to be in amongst them in training is really a joy. They have responded great and shown a great attitude to get fit. They look now as though they are buzzing and maybe we will need to tone it down given the heat in the last five or six days.
"We have been doing double sessions and their first single session was only yesterday. Back on double today and that will continue until we get nearer to the kick off. They can expect another week of doubles and no days off really until we get going unless you look at them and judge that they maybe need a rest. It is great to see so much effort on the training ground."
On Thursday only Craig Dargo and Ryan Thomson missed out on training and Callum Morris will not be risked on Saturday since he only resumed training on Wednesday. JJ continued:-
"We have to be careful with Callum because of the type of injury he had and that will be a case of him being ready for the Falkirk game. Everyone else is fine but the ground is hard and we need to be careful not to pick up strains.
"The tempo and workrate has been good and everybody wants to impress which is typical of young boys. There will be competition for places in the team, even the younger boys think they have got a chance. That gives a good mix for high tempo sessions."
Ryan Ferguson
The Manager has three players in on trial. Ryan Ferguson from Dundee United has impressed:-
"There is a possibility of bringing him in on loan, we are just trying to see if that can happen. We only had two goalkeepers so we had to bring in an extra one. There is a lad on trial at the moment . There is also Kevin Buchan who is a free agent."
The 18 year old striker is still to participate in some games so that we can judge him properly. The closed door pre season friendly for the U20s squad on Tuesday could provide the outing that he is looking for. This game at Murray Park is much for the younger squad members."
On Saturday, Hearts are the visitors and Jim Jefferies is hoping for a good turnout. The weather forecast is good and there could be a larger than average crowd.
