Matches between the clubs are always hotly contested but the Fifers have the upper hand with 33 wins in the 81 league games. Dunfermline's last league win in an away fixture there was a 2-0 win in September 2010, courtesy of goals from Pat Clarke and Andy Kirk. That came on the back of a fine 4-1 win there in January that year when a memorable hat-trick from second half sub Joe Cardle made the day.
In November Jim Jefferies men took a thrashing at Firhill as Thistle overwhelmed them 5-1.They lost again by a four goal margin in March when the sides met at East End Park and in between there was some solace as Dunfermline knocked Thistle out of the cup 1-0 on their own ground with Andy Barrowman scoring the only goal of the tie.

When Dunfermline last travelled to Firhill to meet Thistle in the league they sat equal on points with Partick Thistle and above them by virtue of a better goal difference. That was back in November and the Pars recovered from that with good wins over Raith Rovers and Dumbarton. Since then however Dunfermline have only taken 13 points out of a possible 57 before they remembered how to win at Cappielow two weeks ago.
