U20s v Inverness Caley Thistle
Monday, 22nd Apr 2013Under 20s go down to yet another narrow defeat
INVERNESS CALEY THISTLE 1 DUNFERMLINE 0
The Dunfermline U20s continued their testing schedule of two matches per week and for the third game running lost 1-0. This time it was to a stronger more experienced Caley Thistle side who scored what turned out to be the winner just seven minutes into the game.
The goal came from a ball played in from their inside left position that split Lewis Martin and Andy Ritchie. That let in Nick ROSS to fire a shot across Ryan Goodfellow to find the net in the far corner.
After that the Pars side did really well and got back into it without really creating any good chances. Both teams found it hard to get in shots in the terrible howling gale at the Caledonian Stadium that just was not conducive to good football.
The young team were driven on by the more experienced Munro and Martin at the back. Declan O'Kane and Lewis Spence in midfield did particularly well supporting Scott Gray and Fayssal El Bakhtaoui in front of them in a 4-4-1-1 formation.
The visitors came out and put on a good second half performance and possibly deserved something out of the game just for their endeavour and workrate. It was another narrow defeat but considering the opposition a creditable effort.
