Ryan blows out Morton's candles
Sunday, 14th Apr 2013Ryan celebrates 22 happy years with eighth goal of the season
Ryan Thomson notched his eighth goal of the season on Saturday but it was the first time that it was the match winning one. Pre match the Manager had entered the dates of birth of all the players 21 or under but was unaware that Ryan had just scraped out of the requirement. It was Ryan's 22nd birthday and he made it a memorable one:-
"It was good to get the goal and to be honest we needed the win when you come in and hear that Cowdenbeath won as well. We need to win as many points as we can to get the Club out of this position."
The situation has become serious after the deduction of points for the Club going into administration.
"It is never nice but we knew that it was going to be around fifteen points. We just need to get on and deal with it and kick on from here.
"It is a massive win to come away to Morton - one of the hardest games in the First Division - and come away with three points."
The birthday boy might have grabbed a second goal twenty minutes from the end had Allan Smith cut the ball back to him after the 19 year old had dispossessed full back Scott Taggart. He was not going to criticise his co-striker since it was him that set up the only goal of the game:-
"The wee man did brilliantly for the goal, he is still young and played really well against Morton. On another day I might have been given the chance."
