Morris welcomes Morton

Central defender Callum Morris has only scored two goals as a Dunfermline player but on both occasions the opposition was Greenock Morton. Talking exclusively to the website the 22 year old admitted that he is optimistic about the trip to Greenock:-
"We need to get as many points as we can but in all honesty I think we can go there and nick something. The previous two games have been great for the lads to come together and get used to playing with each other. Now we need to kick on and start picking up points rather than just putting in good performances.
For all of the centre half's first 26 Pars appearances he formed an ever present defensive partnership with Andy Dowie but in the last two games he has been paired with first team debutante, Kerr Young. Kerr is almost ten years younger than Dowzer and will need to adjust quickly to the pace of the First Division however, Callum has every confidence that the under 20s players can do a job in the first team:-
"It is good for the young lads to get a chance because that's what they have been waiting on. Honestly they have been around us on the training ground anyway. I have no doubts that they can step in and put a performance in. There is no better place to go than to one of the teams challenging for the league and show what you can do.
"There is no pressure, all the pressure is on them to stay with Partick. If we can go there and catch them on an off day, hopefully snatch an early goal for myself hopefully, then we can capitalise on that and get at least a point."
Dunfermline in ninth now lie three points behind Cowdenbeath and Callum clearly does not want to have to go into play offs at the end of this season:-
"Now we know that we have lost 15 points and with four games left we know what we have to do to stay in this division. Hopefully we can avoid the play offs that we don't want to be in. If it hadn't been for everything that has gone on in the background this season, we would still have been up there pushing for the league. It has happened now and we just have to go and work with what we have got.
"We know now what is the task in hand and so we need to pick up as many points as possible to jump out of that ninth place. The pressure on us is to play well; we'd rather go out and perform and show that we are good enough even after losing big players like Paul Gallacher, Stevie Jordan and players like that. We need to perform without them; there is a bit of pressure but the lads are confident going into games. We just need to pick up points, hopefully three on Saturday."
