Growing Up!
Wednesday, 20th Mar 2013Pars players visit the new orchard in Dalgety Bay
Last week three of the Pars first team squad did their bit to help establish a new orchard in Dalgety Bay. Callum Morris, Josh Falkingham and Alex Whittle joined up with children from Dalgety Bay Primary School and Donibristle Primary School for this inspiring project, and enjoyed every minute of it!
The project was the brainchild of Peter of Lovely Trees, a team of professional gardeners and landscapers. Peter explained:
"I had the idea to set up community orchards in all the towns of Fife. Dalgety Bay is just the start! I believe in giving something back to the community, after all it is the people in the community that employ me.
"I am a professionally qualified gardener and I am lucky enough to enjoy what I do. I have worked for many Pars fans - we have a truly fantastic football club community. Working with the school children is great, and hopefully it will inspire some of them to take more interest in horticulture and nature! Any suggestions for future projects would be welcomed!"
Peter was particularly grateful to the players for making the effort and to Jim Jefferies and Jim Leishman for their support. In fact you could say that he thought they were TREE-mendous!
