New book to raise funds for the Club

Bert Paton web

Into The Valley: An East End Odyssey is a fundraising book being written and self-published by a group of 9 Dunfermline Athletic fans in order to assist the club in their darkest hour.

The book covers the period 1996-2013 and over 50 ex-Pars players and managers have contributed to the project, including: Jim Leishman, Jimmy Calderwood, Jimmy Nicholl, Bert Paton, Stevie Crawford, Craig Brewster, Scott Thomson and many more. Everton manager, Davie Moyes has provided a foreword and Into The Valley is shaping up to be a comprehensive account of a triumphant and traumatic period in the club's proud history.

1,250 copies of the book are being published and sold for £10 each. The release date is planned for May/June 2013. All funds raised will be used to assist the club's survival in any way necessary, be that the purchase of desperately-needed kit and equipment or the sponsorship of Dunfermline Athletic players and youth teams. Into The Valley is not affiliated to any other fan-led group and is 100% independent. Every penny we raise will go directly to aid the survival of our proud football club.

The publishing costs for this release are being covered mainly from the proceeds of a fundraising evening at East End Park on Saturday 20th April 2013. As well as a three-course meal, the night's entertainment will also include a raffle and auction, as well as a Q&A session with Jimmy Calderwood and Dick Campbell as the after-dinner speaker. The raffle and auction prizes are extremely unique and will be of interest to all Pars fans. A full list of auction items and raffle prizes will be published nearer the time.

Tickets for the fundraising evening are priced at £30 each and can be purchased by contacting Matthew Lafferty on 07412 642872 or e-mailing parsodyssey@hotmail.com. If you are unable to attend the event raffle tickets can still be purchased and auction bids placed by using the contact details above.

Additionally we have a number of great opportunities for local businesses to get involved through sponsorship. Various sponsorships are available with prices starting from only £25. For further information please use the contact details above.
