Draw Disappointment

Stephen Husband: "No disrespect to Airdrie but we should be beating the likes of them.

STEPHEN HUSBAND

Despite coming back from two goals down and scoring twice in the final six minutes to draw the game 3-3, Pars midfielder Stephen Husband was disappointed to leave Airdrie with just one point:-

"I thought we played really well in the first half and had a good few spells in the second, even though we got the draw the lads are a wee bit disappointed. We were always looking dangerous but unfortunately conceded two goals against us in the second half. It would have been a great fight back but we were kicking on.

"We have come back from two goals down a few times this season; against Falkirk and Morton spring to mind. But hopefully we don't need to be going two goals down to come back and fight and be happy with a point. No disrespect to Airdrie but we should be beating the likes of them. We saw ourselves as title challengers, they are bottom of the league at the moment so we can expect to come here and get all three points. With all that's been going on off the field, we are not getting the results ourselves."

With the non payment of wages, crisis meetings and now talk of HMRC writs it cannot be easy trying to prepare for football matches and being totally focussed on playing. Stephen claimed that the players deal with the off the field matters and when it comes to training they just get on with things:-

"Throughout it all we have trained well, okay the performances have not been up to scratch but the preparation is just the same. When you cross that line you go and try and win the game.

"What hurts is coming in to deal with that sort of stuff, you shouldn't be dealing with that we should be coming in and just getting on with things. That is the situation that we are in now and we are just getting on with it. We know what to expect and hopefully that will start to change soon and things will start to pick up."

Stephen and his team mates have appreciated the communication with Jim Leishman since the Steering Group has been formed relieved that it is better finding out things before they read it in the newspapers:-

All credit to Jim for doing that. The lads appreciate it. I know a lot of friends who support Dunfermline and it is a sad time for the Club. It is a really big thing to these people as it is for the players. It is a shame that things are happening this way.

"Look at the table now, we are sitting fourth and that is not good enough. We are not happy with that considering the football we are playing. The sad thing is we are still playing some of that football but we are not getting any luck. Things happen like that when bad things are happening off field. Everything is going against us at the moment."

The 22 year old who struck Dunfermline's first goal from a 27 yard free kick midway into the first half felt that his strike against Raith Rovers earlier in the season was possibly a better goal. "It doesn't matter how that goes in but I enjoyed it."

Raith are the opposition again next Saturday when Dunfermline are due to face their rivals at Starks Park and Stephen is looking forward to the local derby like everyone else:-

"You can look forward to these games. It will be the same as any other derby, we want the three points that will send the fans home happy."
