DAFC support two great Kiltwalk events

DAFC are delighted to be part of Dunfermline's Kilted 'Wee Walk' taking place on Sunday, April 14th as one of a number of events that day including a Charity Football Match at East End Park to raise money for the Kiltwalk Charity.
Gregor Tennant, Mike McManus and the McManus children who all attend Kings Road Primary School, Stevie Agnew, who will be performing at the evening celebrations after the Wee Walk and Charity Football match and Pars legend, Bonar Mercer.
The Kiltwalk is one of Scotland's fastest growing charities with sponsored walks taking place around the country to raise money for the Kiltwalk's 6 core partner charities - Children's Hospice Association Scotland (Rachel and Robin Houses), CLC Sargent, Aberlour Trust, Sick Kids, Edinburgh and Yorkhill Foundation, Glasgow and The Tartan Army Children's Charity. The main charity event takes place on Sunday, 21st April where thousands will walk the 26 miles from Hampden Park to Loch Lomond aiming to raise £1 million. DAFC will have a team there for the second year running.
However, not content with just one big walk, one of the DAFC Kiltwalkers, Mike McManus, has organised an additional sponsored Dunfermline Kilted 'Wee Walk' under the Kiltwalk Charity umbrella. Kicking off with Jim Leishman and the Kiltwalk Pipers at 9am in Pittencrieff Park, the Dunfermline Kilted 'Wee Walk' will consist of 4 x 2.5km circuits (10Km in total) around the park and will be accessible to allow people of all capabilities and fitness levels to take part.
Mike McManus explained, "the aim of the 'Wee Walk' is to raise awareness of the Kiltwalk charity and ultimately to raise funds to help support the less fortunate children of Scotland and to give school and community groups the opportunity to boost their funds also. We have a couple of schools signed up already and we're really hoping more will get involved over the next few weeks."
For the Dunfermline Kilted 'Wee Walk', Mike has arranged that 50% of the overall funds that a group raises will go directly to their chosen school, community group or charity, and 50% will go towards The Kiltwalk and their partner charities. This gives schools and local community groups an amazing opportunity to raise funds for their cause and help Scotland's 'bairns' at the same time.
All funds raised will go to The Kiltwalk in the first instance, then a cheque will be awarded to the elected school or group. So far schools taking part include Camdean and Kings Road, and DAFC's Pars in the Community will also have a team there on the day.
All Wee Walkers will be invited to come along to East End Park to watch and cheer on DAFC's Charity Football Match which is arranged for the afternoon that day and is another fantastic Kiltwalk fundraising event.
Both teams have ex-Pars legends playing, including Bonar Mercer and John Watson with Hamish French, Gerry McCabe, and Andy Tod to name but a few. Each child participating in the Dunfermline Kilted 'Wee Walk' will be allowed 1 adult into East End Park free of charge to accompany them to the game.
Each additional adult will have a £5.00 admission fee, which will all go towards the charities. Additional children under 12 will be admitted free of charge accompanied by an adult.
Entertainment pre-match will be from Inverkeithing Pipe Band and both the teams will be piped out before kick-off. At half time those attending will have the opportunity to take part in 'Beat the Goalie' and other games (for a small charge) all of which will be donated to the charities. There will be food and drink available to buy at the ground. After the game there will be entertainment in Legends Bar, with raffles, bouncy castle and Inflatable bungee and later in the afternoon, live music from Stevie Agnew, Missing Myla and New Romantics Club.
DAFC Pars in the Community Coach, Gregor Tennant added, "this is our second year of being involved with the Kiltwalk, raising over £5000 last year for children's charities and our nominated charity 'Home Start' in Dunfermline which helps support parents and families. As well as these two events, we'll be taking part again in the big Kiltwalk on 21st April walking the 26 miles from Hampden Park to Loch Lomond. We're hoping we can raise even more this year and that people will come on board and help make our Charity Football match and walking efforts a roaring success."
