Paul wages woe on trying time

Sunday, 24th Feb 2013

"We can't score goals just now and everything is going against us.

Paul Gallacher

After the match Paul Gallacher was still kicking himself for letting Morton in for a second goal before many fans had emerged for the second half

"I am disappointed with that especially with the timing of the goal. We had done fantastically well in the first half, it was all us to be honest. We didn't really see anything of their playmakers until they were two or three up. It was all us dominating the game until they got the penalty."

Gall naturally felt that the decision was weak but admitted that Callum Morris had put his body in the way of Fouad Bachirou to block:-

"I think he ran in to Callum as opposed to Callum making contact with him. Then we got a chance; it was a clear penalty, I could see Joe Cardle get tripped. Barra' stepped up and I was confident of him taking them but unfortunately he hit the crossbar. We were disappointed from that aspect but we came in at half time knowing we were the better team and we were just hoping to put on a similar performance and maybe take our chances.

"But to lose two quick goals, sloppy goals from our part obviously - we should have done better with the first and the second we have switched off - it just killed the game for us."

Dunfermline 0 Morton 2

The result did nothing for the mood in the home camp as Paul revealed that it had been a very difficult four months for the players:-

"These guys have been battling away, not just ourselves - there are a lot of staff behind the scenes - from kitchen staff to cleaners who have not been paid. It is has been a trying time for everyone at the Club.

"We have had problems not getting paid and if you think about it long enough it becomes a massive issue. The gaffer has got us well drilled, look at the first half performance - you wouldn't think that it was us chasing them, you'd think it was the other way around. We just got no luck at all even prior to Morton's third goal the boys were saying that it was a stonewall penalty for handball but they broke forward and scored."

The younger players are not helped by the behind the scenes happenings and Paul has attempted to steer them through it but even he has to concede that he has never come across a situation like it:-

"They are just kids trying to make a name for themselves in the game. All these problems are not helping them, they want to progress but the way that it is going just now it is stagnant. We can't score goals just now and everything is going against us.

"The PFA has come and spoken to us but I feel that the league has not helped us at all. They say that we have to make complaints but they could maybe help us out and get some dialogue. We don't get told anything at all, we have asked for some clarification. If they told us that we are not going to get paid we could shift things about or ask money off people to pay those bills.

"Payments come out at the same time every month and if you don't know when you are going to get paid you can't manage it properly. We have had meetings only twice in the last four months but if we got dialogue we could address it accordingly. We are still due from this month and it is only a few days before we are due our next one."
