PREBEN ERLAND

Norwegian trialist Preben Erland spoke exclusively to the website about his hopes to join the Pars:-

"I play for Hundv?g in Stavanger. Our Athletic Director, Audun Johannessen has quite a history with Dunfermline and he got me here to train. I was here one or two years ago but that time I was training with the under 20s. This time I am here training with the first team.

The 21 year old has played all but one year of his football (when he was at Stavanger) at Hundv?g. He described the climate on the south west coast of Norway as very similar to that of Fife. The player is a striker and described his style as a "goal getter".

"I am strong, technical, good with both feet and have a good shot. I don't mind if I am upfront on my own or supported by someone. It is the same.

"Last season I scored 58 goals in 31 games. We play in the Third Division so the first team here is a lot better than we are. Their game is much faster and they show good quality in training. It is decent at my local club but this a higher level."

Preben Erland at Murray Park

Preben has watched Dunfermline on previous visits and admires what he has seen this time around although results have not always been the best.

"Their style is my kind, so I like it. You can feel the tempo in the game."

Preben Erland v Rangers U18s

Having signed an amateur contract so that he could play in the friendly against Rangers U19s on Thursday Preben was pleased with his performance:-

"I was satisfied with myself. I feel it went okay. I did a lot of running and worked hard. I wanted a goal but maybe it will come next time on Monday against Celtic U20s. I want games to show my skills and I want a contract with Dunfermline's first team. Scotland is a good opportunity for me, Dunfermline is a very good club. If I don't get a contract here I can get trials with some of the clubs in Norway."

The player returns home next Friday and hopes his "amazing journey" has a happy ending.
