Managers Post Airdrie
Saturday, 12th Jan 201312/01/13: JJ - "It was a shocker, the players know that and we will just have to pick ourselves up again this week and go again next week."
Jim Jefferies branded the performance as "shocking" and felt that his side deserved nothing from the game against Airdrie:-
"They deserved some harsh words because it was a shocking performance. It started right at the start when you see how we defended the first goal, we had the chance to clear it.
"At 2-1 down I saw the biggest stonewall penalty that I have seen for a long time. I was in shock, I just couldn't believe that he didn't give it. Then the penalty given was certainly not any worse than the one we were denied. But at the end of the day, it wasn't about that.
"We had a couple of warnings and then had a great chance when Wallace got in behind in the first half. Wrong selection again though and that was the biggest thing for me today. The urgency and the decision making with some of the passes that we had, the way we tried to play - it just wasn't them. It was a bad day for them.
"When you are up at the top of this league you are never going to get an easy game. You are there to get shot at, Airdrie came, worked extremely hard and caused us to put in a bad performance. They cashed in on that so fair play to them.
"It was a shocker, the players know that and we will just have to pick ourselves up again this week and go again next week."
Days like this have to be disappointing when the Club is keen to get fans returning to East End Park.
"We have done fantastically well to be up there, that is what we set out to do, but they are better than they showed today, When you are getting chances to get the fans along and get behind you again, you don't need days like this. I have not been guilty of standing here too many times accusing them of a bad performance."
Airdrie boss Jimmy Boyle thought that his side were excellent against the Pars.
"We took the game to them and for me I thought we got what we deserved. We created another four or five good chances in the game and scored three. It is a great result here because it is a hard, hard place to come. Dunfermline are a good team but the young boys have stepped up when we had a lot of injuries and the ones who came in did really well. It is a fantastic three points for us.
"We caught Dunfermline out a lot on the back foot when we were going forward. It is a massive three points for us."
The Airdrie manager agreed with JJs opinion on the penalty shout that was not given in 65 minutes:-
"It could have been given but I couldn't get my head around their first goal. I think he trips our boy, it is one of those things. We got the result but we will still moan about it but that's just the way it is."
