DAFC are the proud recipients of a Fife Business Diversity Award as Gold Winners of the Work Initiative of the Year Award. These FBDA awards are designed to showcase the achievements of people who live in Fife who have been encouraging and positive in relation to the employment of people with disabilities and health difficulties and people from diverse backgrounds. Dunfermline Athletic Football Club has been working in partnership with Fife Employability Team, which is part of Fife Council Social Work Service and West Fife Community Support Services to provide work experience for people with learning disabilities. A group of people have been involved in work duties at the First Team's training grounds at Pitreavie including painting the dressing rooms and general maintenance. Those involved have been in regular contact with the DAFC Manager and players as well as attending a home game. Mo Hutton, Club Kit Manager commented, "Being part of this programme and working with people who have learning disabilities has been a great experience for us and for the players and I know those who have worked with us have enjoyed being part of our team" As well as winning an award, DAFC were also involved in Fife Business Diversity Awards as sponsors of the Supported Employment Provider of the Year category, won by Capability Scotland's Employment Service Team based in Halbeath. The award was presented by Manager Jim Jefferies who added, "We as a football team, have been privileged to get involved with supported employment and we have seen first hand how those employed in this industry work hard on a daily basis to meet the needs and expectations of the people they work for, enabling them to live ordinary but no less exceptional lives." Winners from the Fife event have been forwarded to the Scottish Business Diversity Awards for consideration.
