Over 250 children took part in the Gary Riddell Memorial Tournament at Pitreavie Playing Fields on Friday, 5th October. The event was organized by The West Fife Primary Schools Football Organisation and DAFC were delighted to be part of such a fantastic day.
Pars central defender Gary Riddell, 22, collapsed and died while running in the 1989 Dunfermline half marathon. A former Aberdeen player, from Ellon in Aberdeenshire, he had been with Dunfermline Athletic for almost three years after signing for £40,000.
DAFC are very pleased that The West Fife Primary Schools Football Organisation has initiated this tournament in tribute to such an important Pars Player whose life and talent was so sadly cut short.
Congratulations to the Kings Road Team who won the tournament and who joined DAFC at the Morton match on Saturday, 20th October to be presented with their trophy by ex-Pars player, Gary Mason.
Well done to: Gregor Carmichael, Nathan Dalziel, Ben Easton, Dylan Harrison, Kyler Harrison, Scott Paterson, Cameron Reid, Finlay Yorkston, and Connor Young of the Kings Road team!
