New Debra Charity Shop Opening
Monday, 1st Oct 2012Young Dunfermline player cuts the ribbon at Bridge Street shop
On Monday 1st October, DAFC players Josh Falkingham, Alex Whittle and Callum Morris attended the grand opening of the new Debra Charity Shop in Dunfermline. After a brief discussion on who was best qualified for the job, it was decided that young Josh was the man to cut the ribbon and declare the shop officially open for business. DAFC are proud to support Debra, the only national charity helping people with the skin blistering condition Epidermolysis Bullosa.
EB is an inherited condition which is passed on genetically from parents to children and it is estimated that there are currently 5000 people with this condition in the UK. Considerable progress has been made in recent years in understanding EB but as yet there is no effective treatment or cure. The funding of research into this area is one of the charity's main activities.
