Ryan out to earn his place
Monday, 24th Sep 2012"With the way we are playing you just want every game to come around as quickly as possible."
Ryan Thomson pointed out how Andy Barrowman is a good player and came straight back into the Dunfermline team despite not playing in the previous game. After missing four matches Ryan feared that he might not find it quite as easy to regain his place:-
"Andy has come back into the team and proved why he should be in the team. I was out of the team and you see how good the team is doing but you just need to bide your time. Josh was ill and Craig Dargo has gone in and played well. After all that's gone on I just wanted to get back on the field and I finally got on against Livingston. It is just good to be part of a winning game, so happy days for now.
"When I did come off the bench I added a goal so that is alright. Obviously I wanted to score and prove a point maybe - the right to get on the pitch and play a part. It maybe added a wee bit of bite to it."
The 21 year old who scored two goals in the Pars opening league match at Cowdenbeath was pleased to be presented with two good chances within ten minutes of replacing Dargo in 52nd minute:-
"I should probably have done better with the first one but I misjudged it when I should have done better. The second one I had to score but I thought I was going to get smashed off the keeper."
Ryan was making his 45 appearance for Dunfermline, confirming him as one of the more experienced players in the squad despite being only 21 years of age. He felt that the season in the SPL playing against better players greatly helped his game:-
"It is strange now because in the last two seasons there has been a lot of experience in the team while I was one of the youngest, if not the youngest. It is a different year this year and although there has always been good spirit in all my time at Dunfermline, this season we seem to be doing really good on the park and we just need to keep it up."
Ryan looked ahead to Wednesday night's Scottish Communities League Cup against Aberdeen, a club he has faced four times and lost to four times:-
"It will be a hard game and when we were in the SPL last year we found them very difficult. It will be one to look forward to and hopefully we play as well as we have been doing lately. They are a good side, Aberdeen have a great history and hopefully the stadium will be quite full. With the way we are playing you just want every game to come around as quickly as possible."
